Pick Replit if
- You want database, hosting and an IDE in one account
- You'll want to edit code by hand, in any language
- You need connectors or a mobile app
Pick Lovable if
- You want the fastest polished web app
- You need to know the monthly cost in advance
- You'd rather not see the infrastructure at all
Short answer: Lovable is the faster way to a polished web app with a predictable bill; Replit is the more complete platform, with a real IDE, more languages, database restore and connectors, and a bill you only know after the work. Solo builders who expect to outgrow a web-only builder should start on Replit; founders who need a demo this week should start on Lovable. Side by side
| Feature | Replit Agent | Lovable |
|---|---|---|
| Type | App builder | App builder |
| Cheapest paid plan | $20/mo (Core) | $25/mo (Pro, 100 credits) |
| Free tier | Starter: a daily agent allowance, limited cloud credits, one published app (30 days) | 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month; publishing to invited people only (10 per project) |
| Billed in | Monthly credits; paid agent work is effort-based (priced per checkpoint by complexity) | Credits per message (0.5 to 1.7+ in Lovable's own examples) |
| Builds | Web and mobile apps, dashboards, AI tools, plus slides, videos and documents in the same project | Web apps; apps created since May 13, 2026 use TanStack Start, older ones React + Vite |
| Backend | Agent configures databases; point-in-time restore of 7 days on Core and 28 on Pro; publishing built in | Lovable Cloud: managed Supabase underneath (database, auth, storage, edge functions), or connect your own Supabase |
| Code export | Import, modify and push code between Replit and GitHub | GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket sync on every plan; .zip download on paid plans |
| Lock-in | Code moves through Git; the hosting, database and secrets setup is Replit's own | Cloud can't be disconnected once on; no access to the underlying Supabase project; data moves by manual migration |
| Rubric score | 3.7/5 | 3.7/5 |

Scores out of 5 on our published rubric. The reasons for each score are in the Replit Agent and Lovable reviews.
They tie overall at 3.7, from opposite strengths: Replit wins on depth and backend, Lovable on speed and pricing predictability.
The differences that matter
Platform vs product
Replit is a cloud workspace with an agent in it. Plan mode drafts an ordered task list for approval, the agent tests its work and makes checkpoints you can roll back to, and you can drop into the editor at any time. It builds web and mobile apps, dashboards and AI tools. Lovable is a product builder: you describe the app and it delivers screens, auth, database and hosting, with code editing available on Pro.
How the bill works
Lovable's unit is a credit per message, published with examples. Replit's has three layers: Free Mode work within an allowance that resets every five hours, plan credits, and effort-based billing for paid work, where each finished request becomes a checkpoint with its own cost. Replit asks before paid work and shows checkpoint costs, and you can set budgets, but you can't price a feature before you build it. Planning can be billed too, even when no code changes.
Database and infrastructure
Both include a database. Replit's comes with point-in-time restore (7 days on Core, 28 on Pro), publishing, storage and connectors for BigQuery, Linear, Slack and Notion. Lovable Cloud is managed Supabase with auth, storage and edge functions, faster to start but without dashboard access, and it can't be disconnected once enabled.
Leaving later
Both move code through Git. With Replit, what stays behind is the hosting, database and secrets setup; with Lovable, it's the Cloud backend, which moves by a documented manual migration. Either way, the code is the easy part.
Which to pick
| Situation | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Demo for users or investors this week | Lovable | Fastest polished result |
| Fixed monthly budget | Lovable | Published credit costs |

| You'll edit code by hand as often as you prompt | Replit | A full IDE in the same workspace |
| Internal dashboard pulling from BigQuery or Notion | Replit | Built-in connectors |
| Non-technical founder | Lovable | Fewer decisions, less infrastructure to see |
Questions people ask
Is Replit or Lovable cheaper?
Replit Core is $20 a month and Lovable Pro $25 (checked November 1, 2026), but the bills behave differently. Lovable charges a published number of credits per message; Replit gives free agent work within a five-hourly allowance, then bills paid work by effort, with costs shown after each checkpoint rather than published in advance. Lovable is easier to budget; Replit can be cheaper if most of your work fits in Free Mode.
Which is better for a full-stack app with a database?
Both handle it. Replit gives more control and more infrastructure in one place, including database restore of 7 days on Core and 28 on Pro and a full IDE. Lovable gets a polished app with database and auth running faster, with fewer choices to make.
Can Replit build mobile apps?
Replit's docs list web and mobile apps among what its agent builds. Lovable builds web apps.
